(Jim Thompson/Albuquerque Journal) The morning breeze rustled the leaves of the cottonwoods along the bosque and crunching sounds accompanied a group of students as they walked over downed leaves and branches on their way to the Rio Grande on Tuesday morning. The 18 children in a fourth-grade class from Acoma Elementary got a chance to participate in the “Rio: River Is Ours” program put on the by Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority. This is the third year for the program, which brings Albuquerque Public School Students to the Rio Grande for learning, but it’s the first year the program has used the bosque near the National Hispanic Cultural Center. The program began in September and has hosted about 40 student groups for the project. “Some of these children have never been to the bosque or the center,” said Rebecca L.
