An Amarillo police officer shot a dog twice as it charged the officer Monday morning, police said. About 11:12 a.m., a motorcycle officer responded to 310 N. Virginia St. on a report that a pit bull had jumped a fence, bit a man and had tried to attack a girl. When the officer approached the house, a brown pit bull started to jump over a 3-foot fence marked with a “beware of dog” sign.
