SHIRLEY, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island woman was critically injured by a car while mowing her lawn. Suffolk County police say Valerie Fahie, of Shirley, was on the edge of her property at Maple Avenue and Winston Drive when she was struck around 11:45 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police say no immediate charges were filed against the driver.
