Judge strikes down Oregon gay marriage ban — weddings set to begin

Print—  A federal judge in Oregon has struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage on grounds that it violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. The ruling at noon Monday by U.S. District Judge Michael McShane sets the stage for marriages to begin, making Oregon the 18th state — and fifth in the West — where marriage equality is legal.
