Southeast Texas police memorial honors 'fallen officers'

Law officers who have died in the line of duty were honored today at a commemoration for Southeast Texas officers and their families at the Beaumont Police Department, which included each family member in attendance placing a rose in a wreath next to the department's memorial on the steps of the police station, 255 College St. A bagpiper played "Amazing Grace," a police rifle squad fired three volleys and a trumpeter sounded "Taps" after each officer's name was read aloud, even though the microphone cut out for parts of it as family members placed their rose in the wreath.
