A recent article posted on myfoxdc.com said an Australian poll of 1,000 women found that women prefer that their husband cooked them dinner than have sex, and nine out of 10 women prefer a cooked dinner over flowers. The article goes on to say that women prefer men to help with household chores instead of doing more manly tasks. The article is a very short summary of a study done by Emperica Research and seemed to be missing a lot of data to make this information new and profound.
Often times, we usually want what we don’t have. If the husband spends his time doing random projects or the so-called manly tasks like putting together ceiling fans, hammering away at fixtures or climbing on rooftops to clean gutters, he may not be thinking of helping out with any other chores or see it as part of his responsibility to do anything more.
At the same time, the wife may feel overwhelmed or stressed with her repetitive tasks, such as the constant cooking, cleaning, bathing, scrubbing, laundries, groceries, and gardening. So, it would be nice to have a break and have someone else cook a meal or take care of the normal routines while she rests or enjoys her free time.
On the flip side, if the husband stays at home and does the cooking, cleaning, laundry and other household chores, I bet he would say the same thing and wish that the wife would cook a meal once in awhile or help out with the household chores.
In general, it’s always a nice surprise when your spouse does something for you that they normally don’t do or pitch in to help out; after all, it is a shared household and responsibilities don’t have to be defined by traditional guidelines.
