Without a recovery of the securitization market, banking profits and industry employment will be under continued negative pressure. Structured finance was one of Wall Street's gooses that laid a lot of golden eggs but now is all but dead. As this quarter's disappointing earnings announcements show, it's going to be a long time before banks and investment banks to replace this lost source of profits.
