A Mountain Range High School administrator who allegedly sent sexually explicit photos to a student was charged with two counts of child sex assault and one count of internet sexual exploitation of a child in Adams County District Court on Thursday. Tate Drane, 27, is charged with three felonies, including sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Drane had previously assaulted the girl when she was in middle school, but she did not report the assault, police said. The Mountain West on Thursday announced its preseason men’s basketball all-conference teams and the league’s predicted order of finish. Colorado State fifth-year guard Nique Clifford was one of 10 players voted to the all-conference team. Colorado officials ordered the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine to cease and desist operations on Wednesday about a week after a tour guide was killed and 23 people trapped underground when an elevator malfunctioned. The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety sent a cease and desist letter dated Wednesday to Dennis Lanning, the owner of the tourist destination near Cripple Creek, ordering him to stop all tours and restrict all public access to the mine except to local law enforcement and other government agencies, according to a Thursday news release. A Montrose County man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in a decades-old Colorado cold case, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday. Dan Bishop, a 68-year-old man from Naturita, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the 1999 disappearance of then-42-year-old Dale Williams, CBI officials said in a Thursday news release. At the time of his disappearance, 25 years ago, Williams owned an auto body repair shop in Nucla.

Colorado taxpayers could receive state refunds of up to $1,130 when they file taxes in 2025, depending on their filing status and gross income, state officials said. According to the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Taxation Division, single-filing taxpayers could receive between $177 and $565 in tax refunds under Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, and joint-filing taxpayers could receive between $354 and $1,130, depending on their gross income bracket. TABOR is a constitutional amendment that caps the state budget and requires tax revenues collected above that to be refunded to taxpayers.
