Colorado Springs sales tax collections rose in August by their biggest percentage increase in almost a year, buoyed by strong spending by consumers, businesses and tourists, according to a report released Monday by the city's Finance Department. Sales tax revenues totaled $12.5 million last month or 10.4 percent higher than in August 2014, the report said.
