Colorado Springs Oks Creation Of Three Special Districts Downtown

The Colorado Springs City Council approved the creation of three special districts on downtown's southwest side to allow for up to $330 million in improvements to the dilapidated area over two decades. A list of projects totaling nearly $240 million already exists for the area, though Councilman Bill Murray - the only one to oppose creating the districts during the council's regular meeting Tuesday - argued that list prompts more questions than answers.The three districts total 67.8 acres and are bordered by Interstate 25 on the west, Colorado Avenue on the north, Cascade Avenue on the east and Cimarron Street on the south.Murray said the council's approval of the districts essentially gives developers a "blankRead more on Colorado Springs Gazette
