A former Colorado Springs police detective who had sex with a kidnapping victim will avoid jail time under a plea bargain approved in court Monday. Paul Patton, 40, received four years probation after he pleaded guilty in November to attempting to influence a public servant and official misconduct. If he stays out of trouble and meets the requirement of the plea deal, the convictions will be wiped from Patton's criminal record after four years. Patton is also required to complete 300 hours of community service and undergo a mental evaluation. "As far as punishment, there's not more I can impose or do," 4th District judge Larry Schwartz said.
