HILLSBORO — A former high school cheerleader is suing the Hillsboro School District and her coaches, claiming they failed to protect her from head injuries.

COTTAGE GROVE — An apparently accidental fire caused significant damage to a Cottage Grove home this morning, South Lane County Fire and Rescue officials said. No one was at the home on South Second Street when the fire started, officials said. Firefighters responded to the blaze at 4:17 a.m.

Police arrested a 41-year-old woman early this morning on a drunken-driving charge after her sport utility vehicle slammed into a tree and overturned in downtown Eugene. Catherine Lynn Kelly is being held in the Lane County Jail.
