Danbury police make arrests in downtown robberies

Police said on Monday that the first strong-arm robbery was reported on July 1 when officers were called to a robbery in progress on Terrace Place, which is located just west of Main Street around 4:30 a.m. Police found one male victim with facial injuries who said someone had assaulted him and taken his money.

Police said two males had received “significant” facial injuries from the attack and said both their money and their cell phones had been taken.

 

New Milford police report package thefts near Pumpkin Hill Road

NEW MILFORD—Police are asking for the public’s help in investigating the theft of packages near Pumpkin Hill Road.

Several residents in the Pumpkin Hill area reported that packages delivered to their mailboxes had been stolen, according to a Thursday post from police.

Applicants must pass written and practical exams, extensive background checks, drug screenings and a physical exam to qualify.

 

New Fairfield school board chairman resigns

NEW FAIRFIELD — Barely a week after the schools superintendent announced she will leave the district next year, the school board chairman announced he will step down in November.

Steve Burfeind, a member of the Board of Education for six years, submitted his letter of resignation to the town Friday, announcing he will leave his position Nov.

 

Danbury police continue searching for missing teen

Authorities added that information about the missing teenager released through the media was instrumental in locating her.

Police said they believe Ramus is in the Waterbury area and noted that she has several notable tattoos including a baby dragon on her right middle finger and the letter C that was inked on her left wrist.

 

Man in Bethel with handgun arrested

Police said they received reports of a suspicious vehicle on Hunting Ridge Lane when they found Antonio Veiga, 45, of Danbury, sleeping behind the wheel of a running car.

Veiga, who police said was also operating with a suspended drivers license, was taken into custody on a number of charges including possession of narcotics and criminal possession of a handgun.

 

Danbury police seeking missing teens

DANBURY - Police are searching for two teenage girls who have been missing in the city for nearly a week.

Police said the two teenagers, Kate Rosadi, 15 and Sidra Ramos, 17, left a residential facility located on West Street on their own on June 27 but have been seen or heard from since. Authorities said the parents are very concerned about their safety and are hoping for their safe return.

Anyone who has seen either of the two teenager or has information on their location is being asked to call police at 797-4614.

Westport bank robbed Sunday

WESTPORT — A man with a scruffy beard and wearing a baseball cap robbed the TD Bank branch on the Post Road Sunday, making off with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’1 with a heavy build, scruffy beard and wearing a Chicago Bulls baseball cap.

 

Two people murdered in Bridgeport Sunday morning

Police said at about 2:14 a.m officers were called to a neighbor dispute at 950-952 State Street that turned violent, resulting in one man being shot.

While police investigated that homicide, another fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of 140 Alice Street at 4:27 a.m. The victim lived in the building.

NEW FAIRFIELD—Schools Superintendent Alicia Roy’s decision last week to leave her position when her contract expires next year comes after years of mounting criticism against her leadership.
