PacPower working to restore last 19 customers

The last 19 Pacific Power customers without power on Bend’s west side should be restored with a half hour, a spokeswoman for the utility said today.An unknown problem with an underground powerline left about 190 Pacific Power customers with flickering lights and on-again, off-again electrical power between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

 

Bank of the Cascades to acquire Home Federal Bank

Bend-based Cascade Bancorp, parent company of Bank of the Cascades, will acquire Nampa, Idaho, based Home Federal Bancorp, parent company of Home Federal Bank, in a deal valued at $265.7 million, the banks announced today.

Smoke unhealthy for some in Bend

Southerly winds blew smoke into Bend this morning, causing air quality to spike to unhealthy levels for sensitive groups.The smoke came from a mix of pile burning on private land and a smoldering prescribed fire, all near La Pine and Sunriver, said Lauren Miller, fire and fuels planner for the Deschutes National Forest.

 

Police close in on storage unit thief

Bend Police officers investigating burglaries at storage facilities have identified a suspect and recovered some of the stolen property, according to police Officer Tommy Russell.The burglaries date to 2010 and involve 10 burglary reports at storage facilities around town, according to a Monday news release.
