Were you 'Seen' at the Walk of Survivorship?

The Julie Rogers Gift of Life held a "Walk of Survivorship" in downtown Beaumont Saturday. The event was done in lieu of the annual color run due to Tropical Storm Harvey, but the usual festivities, colorful costuming, and spirit of the event prevailed. This year, survivors included not only those battling or having beaten cancer, but all who have struggled with the impact of Harvey in their own lives and communities throughout Southeast Texas.

 

Vidor band members collapse during halftime of football game

Two members of the Vidor band collapsed due to overheating during halftime of Vidor's football game against Nederland at Pirate Stadium on Saturday afternoon, according to the school's band director.
The two band members were treated and stabilized by Emergency Medical Technicians on site.
Temperatures reached more than 90 degrees during the game, which kicked off at 2 p.m. Vidor quarterback William Fawcett was also treated for symptoms of overheating during the game, coach Jeff Mathews said.
