UCHealth will pay $23 million to settle a federal lawsuit alleging the hospital system fraudulently coded emergency room visits submitted to Medicare and the military health insurance program TRICARE.
Department of Justice officials accused UCHealth of using an “automatic coding rule” for ER patients despite knowing the practice didn’t comply with Medicare and TRICARE billing rules, according to a Tuesday news release about the settlement.
UCHealth officials deny the allegations and agreed to settle to avoid long and expensive litigation, spokesperson Dan Weaver said in a statement.

Find another name for your mass deportation agenda, Mr. President-Elect, because Aurora, Colorado, is a safe haven for immigrants who are prospering in a community that has embraced their culture, heritage, and sometimes their tenuous legal status.
Ripping the community asunder with an anti-immigrant sting executed by military personnel or federal agents under a presidential order called “Operation Aurora” would upend the city’s hard-fought safety and stability.

Why is the Nuggets’ defense so horrific so far this season? Anything in particular stand out? I’ve only occasionally watched on national broadcasts as I refuse to pay for the cheap Kroenkes’ streaming service, but have noticed a ton of points being given up.

BOULDER — Whoever said never meet your heroes never met Riley Rhoades. Lordy, they missed out.
“I’ve been there for a long time,” the 72-year-old CU Buffs fan told me Tuesday, “and I’ve seen everything.”
One national championship. Two 1-10s. A Heisman Trophy winner. Heartache.
But Riley hasn’t seen anything like Deion Sanders.

A week after former President Donald Trump won a return to the White House, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has joined with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to announce a new effort “pushing back against increasing threats of autocracy,” as Pritzker described it.
But both Democratic governors shied away from pointing the initiative directly at the incoming Republican administration.
The new effort, dubbed Governors Safeguarding Democracy, stands apart from the longstanding National Governors Association — which Polis now chairs — and the party-aligned Republican and Democratic governors associations.
