BLOUNTVILLE — The Sullivan County Commission approved tax increment financing Monday for a proposed six-story, 143-room hotel on the Tennessee side of State Street in Bristol. Only Commissioner Bill Kilgore voted "no." Prior to the vote, Kilgore pushed developer Brian Deal to reveal which national brand the hotel will carry. When Deal said he was saving the information for a future announcement event, Kilgore said that might mean he'd withhold his support for the project. The hotel is to be built on land that falls within an established redevelopment district and will replace multiple old buildings, including some former industrial sites.
