Ever since William F. Buckley declared that he'd rather be governed by the first 2,000 people in the Boston phonebook than anyone on the Harvard University faculty, disdain for the "elite" has been a staple of right-wing politics. And while it has provided fuel to every Republican president since Richard Nixon, no one has wielded this disdain with as much force as President Trump. But today, we find the shoe on the other foot.
