A man found dead in the Augusta Canal this morning has been identified. George Young, 71, of Augusta, was pronounced dead around 9 a.m., according to an e-mail from Kenneth Boose, chief deputy coroner. An autopsy is scheduled in the week ahead at the Atlanta Branch of the GBI Crime Lab. It is the second body found in the canal in as many Saturdays. Last week the body of Al Jerome Childs, 61, was found after a fisherman saw a clothed body floating face down in the water near 13th and Telfair streets.
