The latest salvo in the clash between the twin titans of season ski passes landed Friday with the news that Arapahoe Basin is joining the Ikon Pass clan for the upcoming season after severing its relationship with the Epic Pass this year. In February, Arapahoe chief operating officer Alan Henceroth cited crowded conditions in parking lots and other mountain facilities in making the decision to leave the Epic Pass, a product of Vail Resorts that is good at that company’s mountains and partner resorts. At the time, Henceroth said Arapahoe would be open to considering a new partnership, which led to immediate speculation that Arapahoe would wind up with Ikon.
