Koryu means "old flow". This referes to the fact that these traditional Japanese martial arts have "flowed" from teacher to student over several centuries. These martial arts are vastly differnt in character from teh gendai bugei or modern martial arts such as judo, karate, aikido, etc.

Kyudo
Kyudo, literally the "way of the bow", is the traditional Japanese form of archery. The roots of this martial art come from battlefield archery (kyujutsu) and from ceremonial court archery, which was formed by neoconfucianistic thought via Chinese influence.
