Often family members, friends, law enforcement, or mental health professionals feel that this is necessary for the safety of the individual or others. On the otherhand, for the person who may be commited, this can be an additional terrifying situation, that adds to what ever other pain and suffering they may be feeling, and it is a situation in which one loses their rights.
