Topics: Education : Model United Nations

Encouraged by high schools, universities, and non-profit groups worldwide, Model United Nations programs foster international understanding and develop students' communication skills. A participant researches the history, economy, culture, and politics of a state; examines a complex issue facing the international community; and develops an educated position that his nation's government might take on the issue. Periodic simulations allow participants to role-play as UN ambassadors, to debate in a formal committee setting, to explore the nuances of UN operations, and to find a consensus among the states.
