The Xolos are one of the world's most rare and ancient breeds in existance today. The Xoloitzcuintli breed, in common with the Peruvian Inca Orchid, Chinese Crested, African Sand Dog and Indian Hairless, consists of the two varieties born in the same litter: the hairless and the coated. Xolos have been documented as far back as 3000 years in archeological relics of the ancient Indians of the Central America. Extremely intelligent, they come in three main sizes: toy, miniature and standard. The hairless variety has a smooth, hairless skin with a tuft of the hair on the top of the head and tip of the tail. The standard size Xolos have been used in Central America for protection and guarding.
