    I actually wouldn't worry about that. Heavy isn't the term, I don't think. It's torque. The hubs I've spun have been on a 225 Mariner on an SKA 27' Fountain (those hubs were getting abused by having the props barking a lot) and 3 times on a Suzuki DF300, which is probably the torque-y-ist "normal" production engine that uses a pressed hub.

    In the last ten years I have had 8-9 different minnkota's on different boats. Three being ulttera self deploy units and I have only needed repairs twice out of all the units. Both times were my fault from bouncing the bottom getting to close to the beach with a 28' boat (busted the trim belt on the ulterra).

    Fishfull, you are correct, no wood in the transom. Unless you keep the boat in a heated storage or south of the freeze line the transom could freeze and delaminate. The expansion of water in a confined space can cause serious problems, like busted blocks on inboard engines if you do not winterize.
