LEXINGTON, S.C. — State health officials are investigating an illness that is affecting a large group of inmates at the Lexington County Detention Center. Capt. Adam Myrick of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department tells local media that about 120 inmates have been treated for a gastrointestinal illness in the last two days. The Department of Health and Environmental Control responded to the jail Wednesday to try to determine what is causing the illness, where it’s coming from and how it’s spreading. read more
