The longtime volunteer and youth sports coach is running as a Republican for the District 67 state House seat being vacated by Rep. Cecelia Buck-Taylor (R-New Milford). In addition to being a “mentor” and a “hero,” Buckbee said his father passed down some genes that help support his Santa Claus career. Buckbee, 44 and single, with no kids, is marketing director and fundraising coordinator for New Milford’s Harrybrooke Park. Buckbee says he is running for state representative because he thinks people are tired of the kind of “career politicians” who have typically held New Milford’s legislative seats. New Milford School Board Chairman David Lawson is the likely Democratic nominee for the Senate contest, and Litchfield state Rep.
