Every game counts now. With a new state classification system for girls basketball comes a new divisional setup in the Wyoming Valley Conference, along with a new way to get to the postseason. And it all has league teams excited about the possibilities, even if they’re not entirely comfortable with the unknown. “It’s going to be interesting,” said Nanticoke Area coach Alan Yendrzeiwski, whose Trojanettes are two-time WVC Division 2 champions and coming off a PIAA playoff season. That Division 2 his Trojanettes ruled will change a bit, as will the others in the conference. Holy Redeemer moves up from Division 3 while Berwick and Tunkhannock drop down from Division 1 as the WVC now groups schools with similar classifications while trying to maintain competitive balance in its new divisional setup that moves the PIAA from four classes to six. All Class 5A teams in the WVC will play in Division 1, along with Class 6A Hazleton Area and Class 4A Dallas.
