ATLANTA — The Miami Hurricanes‘ luck finally ran out. After falling behind by two touchdowns, Miami could not mount a comeback on the road against Georgia Tech.
The punishment: UM’s first loss of the season.
Here are 10 things we learned from the gut-punch in Atlanta:
Ward can’t bail you out every time
Star quarterback Cam Ward has been spectacular this season, but he cannot do everything himself.
TEMPE, Arizona — UCF jumped out to an early 17-7 lead before Arizona State rallied and hung on for a 35-31 win on Saturday night.
Defense steps up
For the second straight game, UCF’s defense held a team under 275 yards of offense.
The Knights contained Arizona State to 260 yards on Saturday.
Defensive end Daylan Dotson recorded his fourth sack of the season and his fourth in as many games.
MINNEAPOLIS — The notion of being a Teflon coach is one Erik Spoelstra assuredly bristles at. He has been more than open during this uneven start by the Miami Heat to acknowledge second guessing himself.
But what has kept him, and his team, energized, he said, is the awareness that there is no escape hatch, no easy way out.
That, Spoelstra said, is the other element of his enduring longevity, now in his 17th season of stewardship of the Heat — no, not the threat of dismissal, but rather the reality of expectation to make things right.
“It’s a sobering reality of our profession.
FORT LAUDERDALE — At the end, as 40-year-old Atlanta United goalie Brad Guzan went skyward with a celebratory punch in the air Saturday night, the Apple TV announcers were calling this the greatest upset in Major League soccer history.
That’s not just underselling Atlanta’s feat.
It’s also a sweet way of saying what really happened Saturday night.
Inter Miami CF didn’t need another goal in the 3-2 loss that ended its season.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump has said he wouldn’t be a dictator — “except for Day 1.” According to his own statements, he’s got a lot to do on that first day in the White House.
His list includes starting up the mass deportation of migrants, rolling back Biden administration policies on education, reshaping the federal government by firing potentially thousands of federal employees he believes are secretly working against him, and pardoning people who were arrested for their role in the riot at the Capitol on Jan.
8212; Homecoming Week at Tuskegee University in Alabama was marred early Sunday by a shooting that left one person dead, school officials said.
The victim of the shooting was not a university student, but some of those who were injured were.
“The parents of this individual have been notified. Several others including Tuskegee University students were injured and are receiving treatment at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery,” the statement said.
An autopsy on the person killed, who is a male, is planned at the state’s forensic center in Montgomery, Macon County Coroner Hal Bentley told The Associated Press on Sunday.
