EASTBOURNE, England (AP) — Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has pulled out of the Eastbourne grass-court tournament because of illness. The decision was announced Monday. The top-seeded Czech had received a bye into the second round. It's unclear whether Kvitova will be fit to defend her title at Wimbledon, which opens next Monday. She hasn't played since losing in the fourth round at the French Open. Kvitova, who beat Eugenie Bouchard in last year's Wimbledon final, also won the title in 2011.
