Starting Oct. 1, members of the Wickliffe police and fire departments will face a mandatory retirement age. City council members voted June 22 to make the mandatory retirement age in the police and fire departments 65. Under the ordinance, members of the departments who are over the age of 65 may submit a written letter asking to continue working, but cannot work past the age of 70.
