He was on both Kim Jong Un’s trips to China. He sat beside the North Korean leader during his meetings with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the DMZ. And he held meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Pyongyang to discuss the stalled U.S.-North Korea summit set for Singapore on June 12. But who is the balding man with the hangdog expression, who now appears to be the most influential North Korean outside the Kim clan? Meet General Kim Yong Chol — no relation to the namesake Supreme Leader — who is officially vice-chairman of the central committee of North Korea’s all-powerful Workers’ Party.

A beloved staple of the National Western Stock Show’s kick-off parade was missing Thursday after a winter storm and icy roads prevented dozens of longhorns from making the trip to Denver. Road conditions near the ranch south of Monument where the cattle live were bad enough that wranglers canceled the trip, show spokesperson Karen Woods said.

Man shot by Chaffee County sheriff’s deputies arrested for domestic violence, attempted murder

A 54-year-old man who barricaded himself inside a Chaffee County home on Wednesday was shot by deputies and arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and attempted murder, state investigators said. Chaffee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a rural home west of Salida around 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. When deputies arrived, the woman who called 911 had already left the house and was inside a neighbor’s home, CBI officials said.
