Where Things Stand: 9 School Districts In State On Strike

For days, Clark County was the epicenter of a pending wave of teacher strikes set to spread across Washington state. And as schools along the Interstate 5 corridor returned to class this week, seven took to or remained on the picket lines instead. Teachers from nine districts are on strike, including the Evergreen Education Association and Battle Ground Education Association, according to the Washington Education Association.

New building for Pacific Northwest National Lab campus
RICHLAND — The federal government’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will build a new $90 million energy sciences research building on its Richland campus. A contract to design and construct the building has been awarded to a Houston-based team of Harvey Cleary Builders and Kirksey Architecture. BURIEN — A woman was found dead and a second was injured as fire burned an apartment building in Burien. KOMO reports that firefighters arrived at the Forest View Apartments around 6 p.m. Tuesday to find flames burning on at least three floors. UCF has added a veteran coach to its football staff, hiring former Appalachian State coach Shawn Clark as its new offensive line coach. Child and adult hospitalized, dog shot after attack in Deerfield Beach

A child and an adult were hospitalized after a dog attack in Deerfield Beach Friday evening. A little before 6:30 p.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an animal bite near the 400 block of Southwest 13th Place, the Sheriff’s Office said in an email. A child and an adult were taken to local hospitals with injuries from dog bites.
