When Iowa (almost) Revived Commuter Rail

On a normal day, Iowa City’s Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Passenger Station — or Rock Island Depot, as it’s commonly called — sits relatively quiet, other than the rumble of a passing freight train. It’s been nearly 50 years since passengers could board a train at the 120-year-old depot.
