A Vista Ridge High School student was taken to an area hospital Thursday after jumping from a second-floor balcony. The incident occurred about 10:55 a.m. during a break between classes at the school on Black Forest Road. Many students were in the area when the student jumped, according to the Vista Ridge High website. Security, administrative and medical staff helped tend to the injured student until paramedics arrived. The student, whose name was not released, was conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital, said Falcon School District 49 spokesman Matt Meister.
