A hit-and-run crash in Denver’s Civic Center neighborhood on Wednesday morning sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. The Denver Police Department said officers were investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian near West 12th Avenue and Acoma Street just before 7 a.m. Wednesday. Paramedics took the pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. The crash is under investigation, but no information about the driver or the car involved was available Wednesday morning. One by one, students approached the lectern at a meeting of Denver’s school board Monday evening. They ranged from high school seniors to first-graders. Some were so small they needed a stool to reach the microphone. But despite their age and height differences, the students had the same message for the seven-member board: Don’t close or restructure our schools. “The school board says it cares about student voices, so prove it and listen to ours,” said 17-year-old Kennah Phoenix Davis, a senior at DCIS Baker 6-12.

With significant snow predicted for most Colorado ski resorts early next week, five more resorts will open this weekend, bringing the number of Colorado resorts in operation to 15. Colorado employers continued their autumn hiring spree, adding another 9,000 net payroll jobs last month on top of a revised 13,800 they added in September, according to a monthly update from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. Private sector jobs rose by 7,800 positions while governments added 1,200 jobs, bringing the total to 3.02 million payroll jobs in the state. Hiring last month was strongest in professional and business services at 2,800, leisure and hospitality at 2,500 and trade, transportation and utilities at 1,100.

New apartments and retail may be coming to RiNo. Denver-based Steele Properties submitted plans to the city last month calling for the development of a 60,000-square-foot, 40-unit income-restricted apartment building where Downing and Walnut Streets meet.
