AUGUSTA –– The controversial videotaping of referendum petition circulators at several polling places on Tuesday has prompted a state senator to consider regulating the activity. Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham, said Wednesday that he was concerned that the videotaping by individuals from a group called the Project Dirigo Petition Integrity Program had crossed a “new frontier” that could ultimately intimidate voters or people signing referendum petitions.
