Officials gathered Wednesday to retrieve a time capsule from inside a pillar at the Utah Capitol. The time capsule was placed in the spot on April 4, 1914, during a ceremony presided over by Utah Gov. William Spry. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President Joseph F. Smith and Salt Lake City Mayor Samuel Park spoke to a crowd of about 2,000 people during the 1914 event.
