Ubisoft has confirmed they will be pulling the plug on XDefiant. In a blog post on the games studio’s website on Tuesday (December 3), the executive producer Mark Rubin opens with: “I am unfortunately here today to announce that XDefiant will be shutting down.” The decision means that as of Tuesday, new downloads, player registrations, and purchases will no longer be possible. Although the team will still release the Season 3 content in the near future and the servers will remain active until June 3, 2025. The free-to-play shooter is an original to Ubisoft and it was first released in May of 2024, with over 15 million people playing the game.
