Ambulances took two people to a hospital after a passenger car and pickup collided on state Highway 503 north of Lewisville Park Thursday afternoon. The crash, near Highway 503 and Northeast 299th Street, was reported around 2:45 p.m. Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy did not know how the crash occurred, but said it appeared to be a high speed, high-energy collision between the truck and car. The driver of the car was seriously hurt, Dawdy said, and firefighters had to cut the roof from the car to get him out. “Basically, what we do here is remove the car from around the patient,” he said. The pickup driver seemed to have fared a bit better, Dawdy said, characterizing the driver’s injuries as moderate. Both were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. The Washington State Patrol was investigating what happened.
