Thomas Rizer's fascination with British royalty began in 1953 during Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.He was 11 years old and skipped school to watch the historic event on his family's first TV, which they had bought six months prior.After the wedding, he bought a plastic model of the carriage the queen rode, painting it gold and lining the seat with a strip of red velvet, just like the photo featured in Life magazine.Sixty-five years later, Rizer, donning the traditional white tie and tailed tuxedo, joined 20 others Saturday afternoon at the Garden of the Gods Café to celebrate yet another milestone in the British family: the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
