Staff writer Paul Wood's 'Those Who Served' series has documented the lives and thoughts of a few local veterans who saw action on D-Day, and they're all saved for posterity at our special website, usveterans.news-gazette.com. It's almost impossible to imagine what was going through the minds of the soldiers, sailors and airmen who were part of the D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
