A Plantation Police officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a car crash in Davie, police say. Plantation Police officers were attempting to arrest a man with outstanding warrants when he fled in a car, “causing multiple traffic crashes,” Det. Chavez Grant, a Plantation Police spokesperson, said in an email to the South Florida Sun Sentinel Tuesday evening.

Days after a Brightline train smashed into a Delray Beach Fire Rescue engine on the tracks in downtown Delray Beach, several questions remain unanswered about the circumstances of the crash. What happened will be “a turning point — a moment from which we will learn and grow,” Delray Beach Fire Chief Ronald Martin said in a statement shared on social media Tuesday afternoon. He said the department is “committed to working diligently to implement improvements to prevent future incidents.” Three firefighters and 12 Brightline passengers were hospitalized after the crash, which happened near the intersection of the intersection of East Atlantic Avenue and Railroad Avenue about 10:45 a.m.

RALEIGH, N. C. — A year ago this past Sunday, Florida State’s Board of Trustees sued the ACC in an effort to find a way out of the conference’s Grant of Rights agreement — and a way out of the conference, period. And a year ago Saturday, the ACC sued Florida State, in an effort to strengthen its Grant of Rights agreement, and to try to stop FSU’s impending litigation before it started. And so began the least romantic and longest slow dance that has played out in major college athletics during the past year: the contemptuous tango between the Seminoles and the league they’ve called home since July 1, 1991. The Hurricanes will need two new starting safeties next year. Veteran Meesh Powell, who was out of eligibility, is headed to the NFL draft, and Jaden Harris is entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports. “It’s been incredible playing football at this elite level,” Powell wrote on social media. “I am truly blessed to have had this experience.
