This Time It’s Dwyane Wade’s Turn For Heat Honor, With Statue Unveiling On Sunday

If it seems like UCF has been here before, that’s because it has — again and again and again and again and again. The Knights suffered another loss — their fifth straight — as No. 11 BYU rolled to a 37-24 road win on Saturday. It’s the second five-game losing streak in as many seasons for the program, which has dropped 12 of its last 18 games. “A disappointing loss, to say the least,” UCF coach Gus Malzahn said.

A group of teens from Boca Raton, who are part of B’nai Torah Congregation, got together to bake cookies for youth caregivers. The cookies are being distributed to young caregivers around South Florida with the goal of making them feel special and appreciated. Youth caregivers are people between the age of 8 and 19 who provide care for a family member near or in the individual’s home. Summer Faerman, Director of the TLC Program at B’nai Torah Congregation, launched Cookies for Caregivers as a way for community volunteers to give back in a simple way. To celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, Toby & Leon Cooperman Sinai Residences, a senior living community in Boca Raton, held an intergenerational event with 50 sixth grade students from Donna Klein Jewish Academy. In the spirit of the holiday, the students and residents decorated lemon cookies, engaged with intergenerational conversations and learned more about Sukkot courtesy of Sinai Residences’ Rabbi Tract. Sukkot is celebrated for seven days.

Birthright Israel are excited to share a heartwarming story about two individuals, Rebecca Starr and Benjy Katz, who found love through service during a Birthright Israel Volunteer trip. Their journey began nine months ago, amidst the backdrop of a challenging time and has blossomed into a engagement, with plans to marry in 2025. Rebecca and Benjy met on a post-October 7th trip designed to support Israel through volunteer work.

The Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center (Levis JCC) announces the Alicia & Jeff Spero 33rd Annual Book & Author Luncheon featuring presentations by four best-selling authors. Presented by the Levis JCC’s Phyllis &  Harvey Sandler Center, the event will take place on Tuesday, November 12th at 9 a.m.

Temple Anshei Shalom of Delray Beach kicks off the 15th season of The Lifelong Learning Center with a special program hosting Dr. Robert Watson on Thursday, November 14th at 1:30 p.m. Watson’s presentation is titled “Alexander Hamilton – Man, Myth, Musical…Mensch: The Story of the Great Founder’s Jewish Roots.” Watson is a distinguished Professor of American History at Lynn University and author of more than 40 books, several of which have earned awards.
