Nothing says Fourth of July like baseball and ribs — and thousands of fans of both flocked to the streets of downtown Akron on Friday to usher in the holiday weekend. The RubberDucks game had standing-room only seats available half an hour before the first pitch of Friday night’s game against the Bowie Baysox.Shane Durant of Copley Township brought his wife and 18-month-old and 7-year-old daughters to see a baseball game, but when they found out about the standing-room-only tickets, they said they’d come back another day.“I don’t want to stand for three hours,” Durant said, as his toddler was on his shoulders and his older daughter was waiting to play in a bounce house provided by the RubberDucks.
