Teenager Rescued After Danbury Excavator Accident

A 16-year-old was freed from the excavator he was operating Saturday morning after the machine knocked down a Center Street utility pole, fire officials said. Fire Chief Bernie Meehan said that the excavator was draped with high voltage power lines as well as telephone and cable lines. The lines, he said, were also touching parked cars, a guard rail and a chain-link fence. Before rescuing the driver, who was unharmed and later released to his father, police and fire officials consulted with Eversource to make sure electricity was no longer flowing, Meehan said.
