By News staffPROVIDENCE, RI -- A 17-year-old witness testified at a bail hearing Monday that on the night of July 30 of this year he saw two teenagers from his neighborhood running from the house where police say an attempted robbery ended in a triple homicide. Jose Hernandez testified in District Court that he, his girlfriend and his 12-year-old brother were walking to Shaw's to buy candy on the night of the murders when he heard a popping noise that he recognized as gunshots. Moments later, he said, he saw Quandell Husband, 17, a friend with whom he played basketball at the local Boys & Girls Club, and Russell Burrell, then 16, whom he recognized from the neighborhood, run out of a house on General Street. The eyewitness account of the murders during Burrell's bail hearing marked the first public testimony since the teenage suspects were waived out of Family Court to be tried as adults.
