For the sixth year in a row, TCT has won the Warren McDaniel Award for Best Production at Mississippi Theatre Association, allowing for advancement to the Southeastern Theatre Conference. Winners were announced at MTA on Sunday, as the cast of TCT’s newest production, “Cicada,” awaited the award ceremony. In addition to being chosen to advance to SETC in Lexington, Kentucky, in March, Lisa Martin won Outstanding Achievement in Acting and Jennifer Cummings won Best Supporting Actress for their roles in “Cicada.” Additionally, Suzanne Oakley won a silver award for solo singing and monologue with TCT at MTA. The play, from award-winning Mississippi playwright Jerre Dye, tells the story of a family in rural Mississippi set against the 1970s. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to take hometown boy Jerre Dye’s play on to the regional competition in Lexington,” said TCT executive director Tom Booth.
