Bloomfield Hills public safety celebrates recent achievements, could mean lower insurance premiums for residents

The Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce two recent achievements, both resulting after more than two years of preparation.On June 24, the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police awarded the department with accreditation status, an honor shared by only 14 other law enforcement agencies in the state.

An international competition will provide an opportunity to showcase Oakland County. From July 20 through 21, Lake Orion's Palazzo di Bocce, 4291 S. Lapeer Road, will host an international tournament featuring 16 bocce ball players from eight countries who will compete for a $10,000 grand prize.

Construction season taking shape across Oakland County

The heatwave cannot stop road construction in Oakland County. Right now, there are more than 20 projects ongoing across the county, according to the Road Commission for Oakland County. Craig Bryson, senior communications manager for the commission, said the high temperatures, and lack of rain, has not slowed down the progress of the various projects.

 

Inkster/14 Mile intersection affected by roadside bank repair

The Road Commission for Oakland County will close Inkster Road just north of 14 Mile Road on the Bloomfield Township and West Bloomfield Township border to through traffic beginning Tuesday, July 17. The full closure is necessary for the contractor, CI Contracting of Brighton, to repair a deteriorated roadside bank on the east side of Inkster Road just north of 14 Mile Road.

 

Drunk driver's car hit, pushed off roadway into Pontiac hospital

A 36-year-old Waterford woman was arrested late Sunday night after the car she was driving was hit by another vehicle and crashed into McLaren-Oakland Hospital in Pontiac.The woman, who wasn't at fault in the collision, was taken to the Oakland County Jail after it was determined she was intoxicated, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
