Future uncertain for Beaumont high school

A looming UIL deadline will force Beaumont ISD to decide by the end of January how many high schools it will have next fall, though the condition of Central High School, which closed almost two months ago, is still being assessed. Local need for holiday help is greater than ever

This Christmas will be the first in more than 12 years that Fernando Martinez won't gather with loved ones at his father's Port Arthur home. Fans stick with LU through tough season

Lamar football season ticket holder Buzz Long said he has the best tailgating spot - directly outside Provost Umphrey Stadium - and he's not about to give it up because of one bad season.
Lamar's Saturday game against McNeese State wrapped up a disappointing season for the Cardinals.
Fans who showed up for the last game said they think the team can turn things around. They said support is
down, and that needs to change.
"Beaumont and the whole area has too many fair-weather fans," said Long, a 1970 Lamar graduate.
